Denpasar – On Monday, 10 July 2023, foreign students participating in the New Colombo Plan 2023 program took part in the Excursion Day activity. The participants departed for the Karangasem area to visit Tenganan Village, one of the ancient Balinese villages that have an interesting cultural uniqueness.
Their visit to Tenganan Village provided an opportunity for students to see first-hand how village people live their lives traditionally. They can observe the daily activities of villagers who still maintain traditions passed down from generation to generation. The ancient cultural architecture is also maintained in all parts of the village, showing the charm of history and the richness of Balinese culture.
The students also had the opportunity to see various crafts typical of Tenganan Village which were made traditionally using hand skills. Handicrafts such as woven bamboo, woven ikat, and woodcarving are the cultural assets of Tenganan Village that are still sustainable. Through this visit, students can appreciate the beauty of traditional artwork and get to know the process of making it first-hand.
This Excursion Day program also allows students to visit various other famous spots in the Klungkung and Karangasem areas. They can enjoy the beauty of nature, visit temples that have their own history and uniqueness, and explore historical places which are an important part of Balinese culture.
