International Seminar: Pathways to Effective Sustainable Business: Overcoming Barriers and Integrating SDGS Into Green Management Practices
The Faculty of Economics and Business recently hosted the International Management Seminar titled Pathways to Effective Sustainable Business: Overcoming Barriers and Integrating SDGs Into Green Management Practices, which drew over 300 participants keen on exploring sustainable business strategies. With a distinguished panel of speakers and a knowledgeable moderator, the seminar provided a comprehensive platform for academics, industry professionals, and students to delve into effective methods for overcoming barriers to sustainability and integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into green business management.
Moderated by I Gusti Ngurah Gede Agung Pradipta, S.IP, M.Sc., the seminar featured thought-provoking discussions on the critical challenges and pathways to sustainable business practices. Mr. Pradipta’s adept facilitation ensured an interactive and engaging environment as attendees unpacked strategies for embedding sustainability into corporate structures. Among the esteemed speakers was Dr. Ashlee Morgan, a prominent academic from Edith Cowan University (ECU), who provided an international perspective on green management strategies and highlighted the pivotal role of SDGs in reshaping business models to be both sustainable and profitable. Ida Nyoman Basmantra, S.Pd., M.Pd., M.M., representing Undiknas University, drew on his expertise in education and management, emphasizing the importance of capacity-building and knowledge dissemination to support sustainable business practices at all levels of an organization.
Adding practical insights to the discussion were two students from Undiknas University, I Made Adwesta Mahotma and Kadek Hery Pramanta, who shared their perspectives on implementing sustainability initiatives in real-world contexts. I Made Adwesta Mahotma brought a hands-on approach to environmental management, illustrating how businesses can integrate sustainable initiatives that align with both economic and ecological priorities. Kadek Hery Pramanta, an innovative thinker in green business, highlighted leading-edge solutions to environmental challenges, providing a roadmap for companies to incorporate sustainability into their core strategies.
Throughout the seminar, several key themes emerged, offering a roadmap for sustainable progress. One major theme was the challenge of overcoming barriers to sustainability, including financial limitations, resource constraints, and regulatory hurdles. The speakers addressed these obstacles by advocating for long-term resilience and vision, underscoring the importance of a sustainable mindset within organizations. Another central theme was the alignment of business goals with the UN’s SDGs, with discussions centered on how businesses can contribute to positive social and environmental impact while maintaining strong financial performance. Speakers also shared real-world case studies, presenting best practices from companies that have successfully incorporated green management into their operations, providing actionable insights for attendees.
The seminar closed with a dynamic Q&A session, where participants had the opportunity to engage with the speakers directly, further exploring strategies for implementing sustainability within their organizations. The Faculty of Economics and Business was honored to organize this impactful event, which equipped attendees with the insights and tools needed to lead the way toward a sustainable business future.
