Mahidol University Hosts Virtual Seminar on Engineering for Sustainability for UNDIKNAS University Students: A Focus on Shaping Sustainable Development
Denpasar – In today’s world, sustainability has become a cornerstone of global discourse, its significance resonating across industries and disciplines, urging engineers worldwide to engage in the vital task of addressing and mitigating environmental threats and challenges. In this context, every engineer is called upon to leverage their skills and intellect to develop technology-driven innovative solutions, paving the way for a sustainable future. Recognizing sustainability as a critically crucial aspect, Universitas Pendidikan Nasional enthusiastically hosted a virtual seminar on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, with the overarching theme of “Engineering for Sustainability.” This event aimed to explore the diverse realms of sustainable engineering, ranging from the intricacies of civil engineering to the complexities of environmental management and water resources. The virtual seminar featured four speakers who are experts, researchers, and practitioners in the field of Sustainable Engineering from Mahidol University – Thailand, namely Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trakarn Prapaspongsa, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teraphan Ornthammarath, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nawatch Surinkul, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Wasaporn Techapeeraparnic.
In a sequence of presentations delivered by esteemed speakers, a range of sustainability-related topics were thoroughly explored, emphasizing the pivotal role of current technology in advancing and implementing sustainability principles. Beyond merely investigating the symbiotic relationship between technological progress and environmental conservation, the four experts also discussed the essence of principles and best practices in the field of sustainable engineering. Additionally, each discussion provided a clear insight into how transformative innovations have the capability to shape a more sustainable world, such as the development of renewable energy systems and the integration of green infrastructure.
