The day began with a class on Southeast Asian Business Practices and Strategy, where participants examined the distinctive business environments across the ASEAN region. Led by experts in international business, the session provided a comprehensive overview of the key strategies that businesses in Southeast Asia utilize to navigate the region’s diverse and dynamic markets. This was followed by an engaging discussion on The Economy of ASEAN, which analyzed the economic development trends within the ASEAN community. The session highlighted the opportunities and challenges that businesses face in the region, focusing on the integration of ASEAN economies and the growing significance of trade agreements and economic cooperation. The discussion underscored the region’s potential as a global economic powerhouse, fostering an environment ripe for collaboration and innovation.
In the afternoon, participants were introduced to Bahasa Indonesia, the national language of Indonesia, with a focus on conversational basics. This language session provided essential tools for communication, enabling participants to interact more effectively with locals and gain a deeper appreciation for Bali’s cultural fabric. Understanding Bahasa Indonesia is seen as a key asset for anyone doing business or traveling in the country, and participants were eager to practice greetings, key phrases, and cultural etiquette.
After an intellectually stimulating day in the classroom, the participants had the opportunity to experience the authentic Balinese way of life firsthand with a visit to the Kumbasari Market. Located in the heart of Denpasar, Kumbasari is a traditional market renowned for its vibrant atmosphere, local goods, and rich cultural heritage. Here, participants explored the array of colorful textiles, handmade crafts, spices, and fresh produce, immersing themselves in the bustling trade and commerce that have been integral to Balinese society for centuries.
